The "Friends of Hilbre Island" will be holding an Open Day on Saturday 21st June between 11am and 4pm. There will be a Seal watch, History talks and Art exhibition. Refreshments will also be on sale. The Hilbre Islands are a local Nature Reserve contained within the Dee Estuary on the north west coast of England, off West Kirby. The Dee Estuary is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Special Protection Area, a Ramsar Site which is a Wetland of International Importance and a candidate EU Special Area of Conservation.
The three tidal islands, Little Eye, Middle Eye and Hilbre Island and the surrounding foreshores, are freehold property managed by the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral supported by the Friends of Hilbre.
The Islands are tidal so for the 21st you should only walk out from West Kirby from 11am and return no later than the 4pm advertised. Waterproof footwear is essential.
